Recording Inputs and Monitoring

The recording studio uses a MOTU 24/IO digital converter for 24 channels of 24/96 recording. The signal is usually sent from a preamp (see list below) that gives the sound more tone and quality. The recording takes place using protools 12 on a mac server. Accurate sound monitoring is available through Event 20/20 or JBL LSR 4328 speakers in the control room. JBL E90 or BOSE 301 speakers are available in the drum room. There are also 2 powered stage monitors and a 16 channel mixer to distrbute monitoring signals throughout the studio.

Microphones

Alchemy Studios offers a some very popular vocal microphone options. The main choices include the Neumann TLM 103 (a studio standard highly regarded for its smooth mid range). A very good copy of the Telefunken ELAM 251 tube mic (widely regarded as one of the best male vocal mics ever made) by Warm audio. A pair of Shure SM-7 microphones which are a favorite mic of hiphop artists, metal vocalists, V/O and Podcasters alike. We also have a full selection of mics for guitar including the Royer 121 ribbon, and mics for a full double kick drum kit. Alchemy has over 30 quality mics to record your performances with professional results.
